The only three times Proby appeared in Godwin's diary, (except in 1798 when Godwin read a book by William C Proby comparing Godwin's philosophy with that of Lycurgus of Sparta), and all at (or near in the first case) John Taylor's. Very likely Peter DeWint DNB 1784-1849, as his good friend William Hilton DNB 1786-1839 had been recently calling on Godwin. GD website has a person record for Hilton and is not fully sure of the identification, but De Vint strengthens it. Hilton had called on Godwin the night before, and called again two days later

Jonathan Knott c.1767-1814 bookseller and stationer of Birmingham in 1808 took into partnership Robert Lloyd son of Charles Lloyd DNB 1748-1828. Robert Lloyd and his brother Charles Lloyd DNB 1775-1839 were friends of Charles Lamb. Robert Lloyd married Hannah Hart at Nottingham in 1804 and died in 1811

The 1810 entry seems likely to have been Richard Chenevix DNB 1774-1830 chemist who according to the DNB visited London in 1810. The 1831 entry cannot have been him as he died in 1830 but was possibly one of his illegitimate sons George and Charles Smith who changed their surname to Chenevix after their father's death
