Scot, Charles

Submitted by edpope on

11.3.1791 Scott MD at Miss Williams'. The only London MD named Scott at this time seems to have been Dr Charles Scot of 67 Queen Anne St East who died March 1794 (newspapers) age 35 son of late Dr John Scot of 30 Titchfield St. (Boyles 1792 Court Guide also lists a Dr Scott at 22 St Alban St)

at Brand Hollis' 14.5.1791 "Scott a believer in spiritual intercourses lends Paine £40 to aid the publication of his pamphlet, suspended for want of money. (Lewis)" I hope one day to find out who this Scott was - Ed Pope

Nicholls, John

Submitted by edpope on

5.3.1791 Nichols at B Hollis has been coded in GD website to John Nichols of the Gentleman's Magazine but the 1796 list (and the 1794 version) had Nichols MP early in 1791 so this would have to have been John Nicholls 1745-1832 (History of Parliament) a signatory to the Friends of the People 11.4.1792. This also puts in doubt the other dates coded to John Nichols except the one recording his death, and there were no other Nichols in the 1796 list.
