Horsefall, Chapter Office, Westminster 2.8.1803

See letter to Godwin (Bodleian Abinger c6 f116). Rev James Horsfall, Cloisters, Deans Yard, Westminster (Holden's1811). Late librarian of the collegiate church died 5.7.1817 age 64 (newspapers) buried Westminster Abbey 11.7.1817. Not found in Oxford, Cambridge or Dublin lists. Perhaps a son of James Horsfall, son of Joseph of Slaithwaite Yorks, who was admitted Middle Temple 1767 librarian there from 1767-1776 and Under-Treasurer 1776 till his death in 1785.

Richard Phillips DNB 1767-1840 had married Elizabeth Griffiths in 1796. They had a daughter Eliza born 1797 and another Emily born 1800. In theory E Philkips could have been mother or either daughter but my guess would be the 6 year old daughter, particularly if the Godwin girls were all at home. Richard Philips was knighted on 30.3.1808 and Godwin consistently used La. for Lady

Richard Gough DNB 1735-1809 antiquary. GD website has coded the Gough at the Museum as a text by Gough te 1414 Sepulchral Monuments, which was clearly the reason he wrote to him next day

Nicolson, Alfred

Alfred Nicolson dines 19.6.1803

This may well have been the 15 year old son of Francis Nicholson 1753-1844 painter who was living in Somers Town by 1803. Alfred's dates were 1788-1833, he served in the Navy before working as a painter. See Nicholson, Catherine for A Nicholson entries that could have been him, though probably not. Also some plain Nicholson entries could have been his father Francis rather than Godwin's close friend William Nicholson, but I haven't noticed any that look like they might have been. I don't think there was any Alfred in William Nicholson's family.
