The DNB entry for Basil Montagu is in error about the date Montagu married his 2nd wife, Laura Rush, which was at Glasgow on 6.9.1801. His 3rd wife was clearly the one in entries after 1806, she was famous as Thomas and Jane Carlyle's 'noble lady'.

Although Montagu first appeared in Godwin's 1796 list for 1795, the entry for 6.12.1794 was only a 'see' so may have been him.

The B M on f 46r of Vol VII of Godwin's diary before the 1796 list is surely him, see Montague, Sidney

Amendments to Oxford DNB

30.9.1798 call on mrs Foulkes adv Smiths. see Foulkes, Philippa.  In the Foulkes' divorce proceedings of 1802 John  Raphael Smith (DNB 1751-1812) testified that he had known the Foulkes' for 10 or 11 years and had been very intimate with them in the last 6 years, that Mr & Mrs Foulkes had nearly parted in 1798 and that Smith and his wife had interfered to settle disputes, usually at Mrs Foulkes' entreaty

Jacob in Godwin's 1796 list for 1773, in the 1794 version Jacob is preceded by Jos (crossed out). In some of Godwin's autobiographical notes (these ones don't seem to be scanned online, I read them on microfilm Duke MF 75 in Bodleian Library) he wrote "Jacob's - admiration of Jos" shortly after his arrival in London 1773

See Kingsman

On 13.3.1794 Godwin dined at Wedgwood's where Kinsman was present. On 26.9.1798 he met miss Kinsman near Watford. In (Abinger c.17 f66-7) is a copy of Godwin's letter to her about that meeting. In reply he got a letter from her brother H Kingsman who said he knew Godwin (Abinger c.4 f47-8). In the 1796 list E Kingsman is towards the end of 1798, and D Kingsman near the start of 1799. On 8.5.1799 at Langley-berry he saw Mrs and Misses Kingman. Dorothea and Emily were the daughters of William Long Kingsman of Langleybury, Herts. Dorothea died in 1800 (her will Nat Arch PROB11/1348).
