Rees

5.9.1810 dine at Aldis's, w. Rees

Coded in GD website to Abraham Rees DNB 1743-1825 but I suspected in this case at Aldis's it was George Rees DNB 1776-1846 MD of Finsbury-sq (Holdens directory 1811). However seeing that a John Rees was among the mourners at Lady Aldis' funeral 7.10.1822 (as reported in the press though left out of Godwin's list) I also wondered if it was John Rees surgeon 1790-1841, who married Eliza Maltby in 1828 at Covent Garden, but I couldn't find him in directories before 1839 at 240 Blackfriars-rd. Aldis was surgeon to the New Finsbury Dispensary, was the…

Reveley, Maria

21.9.1793 . see my article in blog entries "William Godwin, the Reveleys and the Jenningses"

Cecilia Reveley dau. of Willey & Maria born 24.2.1790 bapt 21.5.1790 (St Marylebone - I forgot to note the parish but I think that's right, can check). Then there was Sophia Revely, child, buried 21.5.1791 St Marylebone. I think this must have been her, the surname wasn't common and the first names sound similar. While we're on this, I also have Maria Knipe James dau. of John & Jane born 8th March last bapt. 8.10.1770 St Mary Rotherhithe. This corresponds to Godwin's note that she…
