24.12.1798 Merry dies: his aunt, Feb. 18, eight weeks after
Ann daughter of Rev Edward Taylor of Sutton Wilts, Lord of the Manor of Mortlake Surrey, by Anne his wife, sister of William Shippen MP for Saltash. She married in 1752 Edward Willes DNB 1723-1787. His sister Margaret Willes had married Richard Hollings in 1737 and 2ndly Robert Merry in 1750, their son was Robert Merry DNB 1755-1798. Ann Willes' will proved PCC 9.3.1799 with affidavit stating she died on 18.2.1799

A Mr Turner from the Norwich company made his London debut as Macbeth at Covent Garden on 15.12.1798 and got a bad review in the Monthly Mirror but received support from gentlemen of his fraternity, the law. The GD website has a person record but it is only linked to the 1804 date
