The first two entries above could well belong to Matthew Baillie DNB 1761-1823 who has a person record in the GD website but these two entries have been left uncoded. Particularly the first as it was followed by a call on Carlisle another medical man. I have not discovered who the Baillie at the Tower was but he was very probably an archivist or antiquary, Grimaldi was probably Stacey Grimaldi DNB 1790-1863 and Upcot…

Thomas Baker bookseller Southampton from 1767 to 1805 (bbti) and Baker & Fletcher booksellers High-st Southampton (Holdens directory 1811).  Thomas Baker's will PCC 1806 so this was probably his eldest son Thomas. Noticeably each time with the Rev Charles Este. (Note I previously described Rev Charles Este here as "an unmarried literary parson". Not sure why I thought he was unmarried. In fact he had married Cordelia Croft in 1775 and they had at least five children who survived infancy. She died in 1828 a few months before he did. In Ann Godwin's letter of 1796 (Abinger c.14 f112) she said of her son Joseph "his aunt Barker is a kept miss to Mr H Hall" and she said much the same in 1805 (Abinger c.9 f26). The context of both letters suggest that aunt Barker was not living in London. Thomas Barker married Sarah Jex at Kettlestone, Norfolk on 29.7.1777. Sarah, daughter of Robert & Mary Jex was baptised at St John Sepulchre Norwich on 1.6.1760, so she was probably 4 years younger than her niece Mary (see Godwin, Mary).
