Godwin saw a lot of Thomas Turner around this time, H T may have been his father Hugh Turner, butcher of 11 Leigh St Red Lion Square. Hugh and wife Ann had at least three children June born 1780, Mary born 1782 and Thomas born 1785, all while they were at Dean Street, Holborn. Thomas (who has a person record in GD website) was articled to Thomas Lane as an attorney's clerk in 1800. He was admitted to the Middle Temple in 1811 and called to the bar in 1820.. A Mr Turner from the Norwich company made his London debut as Macbeth at Covent Garden on 15.12.1798 and got a bad review in the Monthly Mirror but received support from gentlemen of his fraternity, the law. Sir John Crickloe (or Chrichloe) Turner admitted Lincolns Inn 1776 youngest son of Rev James T deceased of Huntingdon, married 2.1.1779 at All Saints Newcastle-upon-Tyne Ann Cramlington / sheriff of Hunts 1785, knoghted 1786 of Upper Stukeley / died 14.10.1813 Stoke Poges, Bucks age 68. Huntingdon connection fits Basil Montagu. He may have been the J.C.Turner Godwin wrote to in 1809

The Turton at Johnson's was wrongly transcribed as Tuston on GD website. It was very likely William Turton DNB 1762-1835 conchologist. In 1805 Joseph Johnson published an edition of Oliver Goldsmith's History of the Earth and Animated Nature indexed by Dr Turton, and in 1807 Lackington published Dr Turton's translation of Linnaeus. Possibly the father but more likely the brother of John Tweddell DNB 1769-1799. Francis Tweddell senior was bapt 19.11.1731 at Grindon by Stockton on Tees, Durham son of George Tweddell, who had married Mary Aynsley 19.11.1724 at Hexham, Northumberland. Richard Tyson will PCC 1821 (exec Sir John Keane baronet of Royal Cres Bath) had been master of ceremonies at Tunbridge Wells, then at the Lower Rooms Bath till James King took over, then at the New Rooms Bath from 1785 in place of Dawson.
