Patrick Russell DNB 1727-1805 formerly physician to Levant Company. He was also a friend of Paradise (Shepperson) and an FRS like most of Paradise's guests

Sterling, Joseph

Joseph Sterling DNB fl 1765-1794. Sterling's poems were published in Dublin in 1781 by Luke White, in London in 1794 by T Payne, and in London in 1789 by Robinson, so three of his publishers were present at this dinner. He lived chiefly in Ireland but his presence in London in 1794 coincided with the publication of his Odes there. George Cecil of Dublin was his uncle, published his first work and left him a legacy.

 

Payne, Thomas

Thomas Payne senior (DNB 1718-99) bookseller and publisher of Mews Gate retired about 1790. His oldest son Thomas (DNB 1752-1831) took over the business and his son James later had his own shop. 18.12.1798 at Johnson's could have been the father or one of the sons; 26.3.1816 call on Payne, bookseller must have been one of the sons
 

Garbett

Timothy Hollis's will (date 13.8.1774) mentions Elizabeth wife of Francis Garbett of Knill, Herefordshire, son of 'my old friend Samuel Garbett of Birmingham' and his last codicil (date 15.2.1790) mentions Francis Garbett's children John aged 20 of Edinburgh, Ann 17, Mary 16 and Sophia 15 at Hereford. Samuel Garbett was the ironmaster (DNB 1717-1803)
