See John Robinson Cooper, from whose indenture this must be John Dorset, perhaps elder brother to banker George, who is mentioned by Charlotte Smith whose sister married their cousin (Abinger c.16 f12-13). He is also featured in two of Elizabeth Cooper's letters (Abinger c.2 f7-8 and c.4 f3) and one of Thomas Cooper's (Abinger c.2 f84-6).

Godwin's cousin John Robinson Cooper, son of Thomas Cooper, surgeon East Indies deceased, apprenticed on 5.6.92 for 7 years to Thomas Spilsbury, printer of Snow Hill. Premium of £32 10s. paid by John Dorset, gent. (Stationer's Company apprentices no 7687) see Godwin, Joseph. In the 3 months before this indenture Godwin called on Dorset 5 times and on Spilsbury once, then Dorset called once on Godwin. John Cooper makes 5 appearances in the diary, 3.1.1792; 5.6.1792; 19.3.1796; 5.4.1796; and 23.7.1796.

Joseph & Mary's youngest daughter Phebe. for baptism see Godwin, Joseph. The Phebe or P G entries of 29.8.1800, 11.6.1802, 14.8.1802, 29.9.1803, 17.5.1808 and 27.8.1817 should all be added to her person record in GD website. It seems clear from the context of 17.8.1802 and the fact that she appears thereafter so often with Hannah Godwin or her other apprentices that the indenture (event tag) was to Hannah Godwin. In Ann Godwin's letter of 9.7.1805 (Abinger c.9 f26) she says "I wish Pheby not to come I cannot help her".

In Ann Godwin's letter of 1796 (Abinger c.14 f112) she said of her son Joseph "his aunt Barker is a kept miss to Mr H Hall" and she said much the same in 1805 (Abinger c.9 f26). The context of both letters suggest that aunt Barker was not living in London. Thomas Barker married Sarah Jex at Kettlestone, Norfolk on 29.7.1777. Sarah, daughter of Robert & Mary Jex was baptised at St John Sepulchre Norwich on 1.6.1760, so she was probably 4 years younger than her niece Mary (see Godwin, Mary).
